Introduction
Alex is a copywriter who came to me in need of new portraits for her website and promotional materials. She wanted a mix of documentary-style portraits and environmental portraits that showcased her work and her personality.
To begin, we started with the documentary portraits. I followed Alex around as she worked, capturing her in the midst of writing, brainstorming, and working from home. These images were candid and captured the essence of Alex’s daily life as a copywriter. They were perfect for showcasing her work and her process, giving clients a behind-the-scenes look at how she operates.
For the environmental portraits, we wanted to showcase Alex’s work environment and capture his personality within that space. We took advantage of the beautiful natural light outside and found interesting textured plain backgrounds to use as backdrops. These portraits were a mix of candid moments and staged shots.
The result was a mix of portraits that perfectly captured Alex’s personality and work style. The documentary portraits showcased her as a real person, hard at work and passionate about her craft. The environmental portraits, on the other hand, showcased her as a creative professional, someone with a unique perspective and the skills to bring that perspective to life in her writing.
As a photographer, I believe that the best portraits are a collaboration between subject and photographer. By working closely with Alex to understand her needs and her goals for the portraits, we were able to create a set of images that perfectly captured her essence and told her story. Whether you’re a copywriter, a musician, or a business professional, a mix of documentary and environmental portraits can be a powerful tool for marketing and promotion. They can showcase your work and your personality in a way that connects with your audience and helps you stand out from the crowd.
